Line up

Forres Theme Day is an annual event that attracts hundreds of visitors to see the many cars, motorbikes, tractors and almost anything with wheels. There are classes from the pre 1931 Veteran and Vintage cars to the post classic models from 1980 onwards. Enjoy some of our pictures from this year's event.

The pictures here include the red Sunbean Talbot Tourer 10 in this first picture to the left followed by two delivery vans, the Rimspoke Austin 12/4 and the smaller Halkirk Austin 7 van.

The two small cars were originally made by Atco, the lawn mower company, and are powered by 98cc Villiers engines. There were only about 1,000 of these made before WWII to provide youngsters with their first taste of driving; hence their name, 'Junior Safety First Trainer'. Three of those made were bought in 1939 for £38 each for Sir Robert Grant's 3 nephews to drive around the Logie Estate.

Our favourite was the working one third scale traction engines that were being driven around the field. Shown here are the Burrell engine in the foreground with a Fowler engine behind.

The 1962 Jaguar E-type OTS was absolutely immaculate and a great draw for the crowds.

The picture above was taken through the spoked wheel of the 1925 Austin Brooklands Tourer and the picture at the bottom was taken early in the morning as the cars were arriving.
